Whoops, just realized I only posted it in the member section:

Dug out the Arthas model from the alpha, and gave a WotLK-themed banner a shot:



Put a lot of work into the eyes, they're drawn from scratch, so I hope they look legit (there was no natural glow on the model in the mpq).
I tried putting Frostmourne in there, but couldn't make it look right, so I left it out. Also did some changes to the text, but I reverted those as well, as the plane white simply looks great on the Northrend background, but I'm open to opinions.
I would maybe scale the text so it stands out a little more, but enlarging it would reduce it's quality, so I can't do that unless Guns sends me a higher resolution version of the title.

I haven't got around to do a Kil'Jaeden banner yet, but I might give it a shot as well, as his wings would look good spanning over the 1000 pixel width we've got to play with.

(if anyone is wondering, the light blue stuff in the sides is a mask required for the banner to blend in on the site. Anyone else working on a banner can PM me or guns for a psd with the mask and/or the cross, etc.)

Here's my go at a Kil'Jaeden banner:



I thought about putting Muru in there, but it wouldn't really fit in, seeing how his wings cover the entire banner (and are supposed to.)
The fire in the background is the actual fire you'll see around him while fighting him (faded some of it over his wings and body as well, to make him look more engulfed in flames, doesn't look so well though).
The wings are photoshopped in from his 1H Special animation, and the body is one of his custom spell animations.
Haven't done much to the title, except move the shadow closer and making it a bit more powerful to create contrast to KJ's body. Tried changing the color of the text, but wouldn't work too well. Adding a fiery glow didn't look too good, either, so I went with the classic title.

I'm not too sure, the two banners have very different themes, and don't go too well together color-wise, but this one shows more of KJ's massive wings, which I like.
