With the rise of RFID tags and more and more wireless devices, things such as this are going to become extremely popular. Microsoft is definitely releasing a public product that has been in the works through research and such for years. I know Virginia Tech for one has had something like this for quite a while now.
I am glad to see it is going to start becoming something that the public can use. I have been waiting on a table I can just place my wireless devices on and have it charge without me having to plug it in
